Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy provides an opportunity to explore and work through conflicts, confusion, negative beliefs and perceptions. This can include difficulties that interfere with current as well as future aspirations

How Does Psychotherapy Work?

The process is designed to build confidence and strengthen healthy emotional responses to everyday life. Therapy can open the way to improved relationships with others and oneself. Therapy can be a short-term or long-term process. It is dependent on the goals of the client and the circumstances they wish to change.

What Issues Does Psychotherapy Seek to Alleviate?

Psychotherapy seeks to alleviate a multitude of issues including but not limited to:

Psychotherapist, Psychiatrist, Psychologist - What's the Difference?

Psychotherapists come from a wide spectrum of training and experience. What they have in common is talking with their clients about whatever is troubling them. CTP psychotherapists are trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy to assist in self-discovery and personal growth. This approach helps individuals explore how their past and present day experiences dictate and shape their lives. Its aim is to help achieve a more fulfilling life.

A psychiatrist is a doctor trained in psychiatric medicine. Essentially, psychiatry is a medical model of mental health that involves the diagnosis of mental illness. Psychiatrists can prescribe medication based on their analysis and may or may not offer psychotherapy.

A psychologist is an individual who has received a Ph.D. in psychology. Psychologists might do research, perform various psychological assessments, teach at a university or offer psychotherapy.
